National Lung Cancer Screening Program - Lung Foundation Australia

The National Lung Cancer Screening Program is a screening program for people who may be at higher risk of lung cancer. It uses a low-dose computed tomography scan (low-dose CT scan) to look for signs of lung cancer before any symptoms appear. The program is estimated to save the lives of 12,000 Australians over the next ten years, by detecting lung cancer early, when treatment is most effective. If people are eligible for the program, the scan is free and paid for by Medicare. A doctor, nurse practitioner or medical specialist will provide a form to book the scan. This form is designed for the lung cancer screening program and is different from other scan request forms.
