Carers SA

Carers SA is the peak body representing and advocating on behalf of carers throughout South Australia.

Carers SA is a not-for-profit incorporated association with a mixed income base including funding by the SA and Australian Governments. They are part of a national network of Carers Associations and a member of Carers Australia, the recognised national peak body representing and advocating on behalf of family and friend carers throughout Australia.

With one in every eight Australians caring for a family member or friend, Carers SA is committed to providing specialised carer, aged, and disability support services.

They are committed to working alongside every community and caring family, including LGBTI and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, to improve support and advocacy services for them.

Carers SA’s vision is for an Australia that values and supports carers.

Their mission is to work to improve the health, wellbeing, resilience and financial security of carers and to ensure that caring is a shared responsibility of family, community and the government.

How Carers SA can help

Carers are at the heart of everything Carers SA do. They want your contribution to be valued and your voice to be heard. You should know they are with you, every step of the way. They can support you through offering advice, information, training, counselling and respite.

  • Visit Carer Gateway or call 1800 422 737 8am to 5pm, Mon to Fri AEST
  • Call 1800 422 737 to make an appointment with the Carer Gateway National Carers Counselling Program, Mon to Fri 9am to 6pm AEST. Counselling is offered face-to-face, via telephone, email and Skype, or in a group
