If your child has any one of the following symptoms, it could be a sign of sepsis:
Difficulty breathing
Rash that doesn't fade when pressed
Unexplained pain
Restlessness or confused
Difficult to wake up
Seizures
Vomiting
Skin is blotchy, pale or cold
For babies:
Less wet nappies
Problems feeding
Not settling
Sepsis has many different symptoms that are often similar to a mild infection. See a health professional if your child's symptoms aren't getting better or get worse.
If your child has an infection and you are worried that they are becoming more unwell, see your doctor urgently, or go to your nearest hospital emergency department or call triple zero (000).
