Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute

The Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute is an independent, internationally renowned medical research facility. The Institute’s work extends from the laboratory to wide-scale community studies with a focus on diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

The Baker Specialist Clinics are located on the Alfred Research Alliance precinct in Melbourne and are one of the country's leaders in patient care, clinical outcomes, research and education.

The Institute's team includes cardiologists, diabetes physicians, bench-top scientists, epidemiologists, dietitians, psychologists, nurse educators, renal specialists, physical activity experts and more. Together, they are working to translate laboratory findings into new approaches to prevention, treatment and care for those living with or at risk of diabetes, heart disease and their complications.

Research projects and clinical trials underway at the Baker Institute have the potential to change the face of medicine. Often, this groundbreaking research would not be possible without volunteers participating in clinical trials.
